Northern Ireland Tug-Of-War Association

The N. Ireland tug of war association is affiliated to the International Tug of War Association [ T.W.I.F. ] and every year we hold N Ireland championships to decide who will represent us at, United Kingdom, European or World Championships at both indoor and outdoor tug of war. There are approximately 50 countries affiliated to T.W.I.F.  and more information is available on the TWIF website. One of our big attractions of our sport is the international travel involved in the sport.

Northern Ireland Tug-Of-War Association objectives

The object of our association is to promote the sport of tug of war in N. Ireland and although rather small in size we can boast of Gold and Bronze medal holders at World indoor level. In recent years we have obtained silver at European level and bronze at world level on the outdoor scene.

Northern Ireland Tug-Of-War Clubs

We have a number of clubs throughout N Ireland and if you are interested in joining our sport please either contact one of our clubs or through the contacts. In need of a rope or pulling boots or shoes  contact me.
 

Northern Ireland Tug-Of-War Lady Pullers

Ladies tug of war is striving to make a name in the forthcoming U K championships in Ballymena and we would give encouragement to any body wishing to form a ladies tug of war team. Also this past year we had a group of pullers from the U.S.A. and we staged a 4 x 4 [ 4 men & 4 women ] competition and there is also a 4 x 4 at our U K championships in Ballymena.
 
Tug of war is a physically and mentally demanding sport and if you are reasonably fit and need a challenge in life give tug of war a thought.
