Leo's Boys Tug Of War Club
|
|
CLUB REVIEW 2008 Leo`s
Boys tug of war club have just come to the end of a very memorable year
in the short history of the club. The season started with a visit to
their old friend Alan Jones from Wales, his team hosted the Benburb
boys who competed in their annual competition. |

|
John
Beggs arrived at training one night with an invitation from David
Olson, the President of the town of Orfordville Wi. It transpired the
U.S.A. tug of war Association were holding their 30th anniversary in the town of Orfordville on June 14th
and they invited Leo`s to come along as guests to compete in their
international competition. The team, with Dermot Mc Kenna [Manchester ]
and Peter Moore [ Cardiff ] as guest pullers, travelled to pulls in
Greely [ Iowa ] D.J`s [ Minnesota ] and pulls with Powertrain and
Mountvernon in Wisconsin. The team returned with fond memories and
three wins and three seconds. The
U S trip struck up such good friends that an American group of 10 girls
and 10 men headed up by the U S tug of war President Shelby Richardson
visited N Ireland as hosts of Leo`s Boys in the month of August. |
Later
in the year Leo`s boys were joined by the men from Brantry, headed by
Leo Mc Keever, and jointly the competed in the present indoor season
and now hope to compete in the forth coming United Kingdom
Championships in February 09 |
