Saturday 7th January saw the first competition of the New Year at Roblew Engineering at Ballygawley.  Country Club and Ballyhegan attended alongside a large contingent from the Irish Tug of War Association.  Three weights were to be contested at 580, 620 and 660 kgs.

Seven teams entered the fray in the premier event the 580 with teams from Clonmany A, Clonmany B, Binnion, Rockies, Cockhill and Mountain View.  All had made the weight and came to the mats prepared for the battle ahead.  During the round robin there was some decent pulling with the top four to go through to the semi finals.  Cockhill, Mountain View, Clonmany B and an amalgamated team from Country Club and Ballyhegan made the semis.

Clonmany B and Mountain View were the first semi with Country Club/Ballyhegan taking on Cockhill.  Clonmany B and Country Club/Ballyhegan made the final with the visiting team from Donegal taking the gold medal position.

Four team took to the mats in the 660 event with the eventual winners being Clonmay B. In the 620 weight category after the round robin and semi finals Clonmany B and Mountain View were scheduled for the final.  Mountain View took the gold medal position in a short time.

Special mention to those who supplied sandwiches for the event and the young ladies who assisted during the event ensuring that those that wished got tea and soup.
