Leo`s Boys and Girls tug of war club was formed in 2001, the senior people at that time were, Leo Collins, our club Icon whom the club was named after. Leo started pulling way back in 1968 and is still pulling and training up to the present time. Patrick Kernan, past puller, and general club organiser, Domnick Donnelly, John Beggs, both experienced pullers and at the time Derick Millar and Aaron Knipe, new boys back then. Norman Millar was our contact from way back in the 1950`s when his family were involved with the Derryfubble tug of war team.
We have progressed from then to now representing N Ireland on a number of occassions at U K`s , European and World levels at both outdoor and indoor.
Our training ground is just outside the Village of Benburb at Derick Millars farm. We train there on Monday and Thursday evenings from approx 8-00pm until 10-00pm.
At the beginning of the year Feburary and March we do physical training and then progress to rope work, starting our pulling season in April.
We are democratically run, have our own constitution, bank account and management committe.
This outdoor season our trainer is Mark Robinson and our selectors are Mark , Barry Gildernew and Aaron Knipe. Derick Millar is our treasures and Patrick Kernan our secretary and our president is Norman Millar.
We have decided to concentrate on outdoor tug of war for the forseeable future.
If you would like to take part or just observe our training sessions come along and see for yourself. At present we are rebuilding up our ladies team. You can contact us at the following numbers ;
